Unboxing a New Enduro

All right, let's face it, we all love unboxing something new. A gift maybe or a package. Even if you know the contents of it there is a thrill some seconds before you open the box.Recently we had the opportunity to invest in four more motorcycles from Beta. The 2014 RR 350, brand new in their box reached our head quarters a month or so after we placed the order. Many Days before we start preparing for Red Bill
Romaniacs 2014 we decided that one of them would be this years hero, having the duty to go through this hard race. Also, after the race this would be my private bike, since I would not want to give to our customers a racing bike to join our touring events.

The manufacturer spent a great deal of money to make these boxes. I was impressed by the quality and the design of the box and it's contents. Everything is a reminder of the competition and to be true Beta has nothing to be jealous of.

The bikes need some setting up. Minor adjustments and connections according to the riders demands. Steering bar, throttle, brake and clutch levers are loose and disassembled. One thing you immediately notice, is the smell of new.

Bikes came with an amazing set of tires but since they were using tubes we have to replace our moose to all of them.

You can't miss noticing the manufacturer quality on every detail on the motorcycle, from the welding of the frame to the saddle material, everything is carefully designed delivering a result of excellency, strength and satisfaction.

Front fender
A new design which combines a more appealing look and a new shape that improves the rigidity in bending and flexing, ensuring perfect stability even under the most extreme muddy conditions. Wider at the middle/front area it protects the rider from getting wet due to the water raised up from the front wheel.

Brake disc
A new heat treatment gives greater hardness to the disk for increasing durability and performance.

A new bikes can be unpacked and assembled in less than 45 minutes if you know what you are doing which in Andreas case he did. Otherwise, if it was me, I think I would need an extra hour or so to finish everything.

One thing that made me a great impression is the imperfection of the sewing of the saddle. It is clearly been made by hand, which is great and the final result very impressive.

Seat cover
A new look finely finished aesthetics by visible seams.

Seat base
More rigid and reinforced to ensure a solid fit to the frame as well as better comfort to the rider. More compact design for better ergonomics and fit between the seat base and the seat foam.

Rear shock absorber
A new bleed hole diameter along with the tapered adjuster allows for a more precise adjustment of the shock’s rebound system combined with a new spring with a more consistent action, 5.4 kg/mm. These updates combined to the new valving changes provide more stability and will provide even more confidence for riders of all levels.

We promise there will be nothing to complain about when you will receive your bike since you choose to get it in it's box and not assembled by your local dealer. If you are anything at all like us, you will enjoy the procedure and that's a promise.

Some tech data according to Dirt Rider Magazine: Beta didn’t make a geometry changes to the frames on the two- and four-strokes, but they worked carefully on the size and shapes of the reinforcement plates and brackets to increase durability.

The only four-stroke power plant to receive any changes was the 350. A new profile to the piston and repositioned lubrication holes have are to increase reliability and reduce oil consumption. The countershaft underwent heat treatment changes for increased reliability and the shift drum is revised for easier shifting. To smooth the transition from bottom to mid and increase bottom end torque, Beta redesigned the power valve on the 250 RR to seal up tighter during the closing phase.

A huge improvement to the two-stroke 250 RR and the 300 RR comes in the way of the gas tanks. They are now transparent and the capacity is now up half a gallon to 2.5 gallons total. An all-new front fender with improved rigidity is also wider at the middle and front area. It looks almost identical to a KTM fender. The seat cover is now two-tone and the seat base is more rigid and reinforced for a solid fit on the frame. To keep the battery and CDI box in place Beta has a new elastic band that holds things tight. The brake disc rotors received a new heat treatment for a greater hardness, increasing durability and performance. The front brakes are touchy and if you aren’t careful the front end will tuck going into corners.

With its high ground clearance, rugged tyres and robust construction, the 2014 Beta RR Enduro 4T350 is ready to tackle any terrain with poise. Its sporty style is enhanced by the red-and-white livery which is paired with a series of special graphics.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new Beta RR Enduro 4T 350 is built on a revised frame which features numerous updates on materials and geometries. The motorcycle also comes with a new fender design which is more durable than the previous model, a new seat cover, a revamped seat base, new brake discs and improved suspensions.

The 2014 Beta RR Enduro 4T 350 is powered by a 349 cc, single cylinder, Titanium 4-valve, 4 stroke, liquid cooled engine which transfers its power to the rear wheel by means of a six speed transmission.

Frame
Further development of the previous frame, small but numerous updates on materials and geometries of reinforcement plates and brackets. All updates are designed and aimed at reducing tension as the map of stress characterized by a different shade of color that changes from blue to red, the result of F.E.M analysis, modeled in 3d. The blue areas are low-load while the other (which tend to be red) are those most stressed. As the diagram shows, frame stress has been reduced to a bare minimum.
The tenth edition of the racy RR ENDURO 4T BETA is dressed with eye-catching livery and red-and-white sports enhanced by graphics meticulously maintained.
RR ENDURO MY14 is confirmation of Beta’s dedication to their riders and sports fans searching for continued performance and reliability.
RR ENDURO MY14 is characterized by a "made in Italy" indisputable technical characteristics and a State-Of-The-Art design.
The Florentine manufacturer capitalizes the experiences of official Team Sports and suggestions of its customers and translates them into upgrades that improve the product putting it closer to the rider in that of performance and ease of riding.

Front fork
Important improvements have been made both to the forks internal cartridges as well as to the valving. New work on the pistons, specifically the tolerance between the pistons and the inner cartridge has been reduced and the friction of the outer housing has changed with the aim of improving the performance in both hard, square-edge hits and rocky conditions. An improved top cap that is both easier to service and easier to adjust as the rebound components are now contained in the cap. Inner cartridge diameter is now 12mm for improved oil fluid flow as well as more responsive as well as new settings and adjustment of the bypass valve. New oil designed to minimize friction and reduce temperatures. All of the features above described gives to the front fork a smoother feel, a more accurate ride and a better response when bad hits occur.

Using our own decals we prepared one of the bikes for Red Bull Romaniacs 2014, featuring our sponsors and partners that helped us achieve this racing journey once more.
